Steps for Ground Preparation Before Artificial Grass Installation
Follow these easy steps to install the artificial layer on the ground -
1.
Remove the Current Turf
If you have turf on the ground, then remove it by using a spade or a sod-cutting machine. If the turf is in usable condition, then lend it to someone in need; otherwise, dispose of it according to the organic waste removal rules.
2.
Check
for underground pipes
Under the installation area, there might be sprinklers that you don’t need anymore. Get rid of them if they are not required or cover sprinklers at the pipe levels. Also, since many soils possess poor draining capabilities, you must install proper drainage pipes to let the water clear out easily. However, if you lay artificial grass on well-draining soil, then you need not be bothered with installing a drainage system.
3.
Remove
the weeds
Grassroots and weeds commonly pop up on the unused ground surface. Before the installation, make sure you get rid of them all by spraying non-toxic weed killers. The spraying must be done two weeks prior to the installation date because it takes ample time to take effect. Ensure that the entire area is sprayed with weedkiller so that there’s no sign of grass life on your lawn.
4.
Make
room for artificial grass
Remove the top layer of the surface by three to four inches so that there’s enough space for layering the artificial grass. Follow the top layer removal process with a thorough walk over the area or use a hand tamp to set the loose soil and make an even surface.
5.
Install
the grass
Finally, the most awaited step: is grass installation. Laying out the artificial grass is soothing and easy. Line up the grass bundles and roll them out. Then keep shuffling until they get to their final position.
6.
Connect joins
The installation of grass is not finished until you connect any joins in your artificial grass. For joining with self-adhesive joining tape, peel the protective strip and paste the patch on the ground. Make sure the connections are seamless so that the final product looks perfect.
7.
Brush
Up
Before jumping on it, brush it up a little so that all the blades stand up in an upward direction. Post-combing, you are all set to sit back and relax on it.
To sweep away the worries
of maintaining the grass on your lawns, you must replace it with artificial
grass. By doing so, you can skip the hard work on the lawn and stay lazy on the
weekend or go on a shopping spree.
